Our boys are the quintessential boys. High energy, high strung, truck playing, dirt moving, fight inducing boys. And when those are the attributes that define you as a boy, naturally, you take a liking to what? Super Heroes. The boys have a love for anything Super Hero related. The boys have taken on the persona of Batman, Spiderman, Ironman, Thor, Captain America, Buzz Lightyear, and even Puss and Boots. Mommy and Daddy take turns being the bad guys and Camden and Ethan capture us take us to "jail".
Couch cushions are frequently strewn about the living room as the boys leap from couch to couch as if leaping between towering skyscrapers. We've had to stock their drawers with an assortment of Super Hero t-shirts. A day barely goes by when they aren't wearing something that bears the picture of an Avenger or other crime fighting celebrity. In fact, there have been times where we'll put Ethan in normal play clothes, shorts and a t-shirt, and he'll go to his room change out of that and change back into his Batman PJs. He'll proceed to wear those, cape and all, for the rest of the day.
And don't try convincing Ethan that he needs to change out of whatever costume he happens to be wearing. He can be seen around town in his Puss and Boots costume which consists of a cowboy hat, a leather belt that's double wrapped around his tiny waist, a sword which is actually a long bubble wand, and winter boots. The kid has no shame. He'll wear his Buzz Lightyear or Woody costume to Perkins and wonder why everyone else ISN'T dressed like Woody, Jessie, Ham or T-Rex. The way I see it, might as well let him make use of his costume while he's still 3 and people think it's cute. Let's face it, 16 year olds can't walk around in Buzz Lightyear costumes without people clutching their belongings when they come near.
It's a fun phase. The boys are letting their imaginations run wild and it allows them to run around and burn off some energy. Most recently they've been introduced to Thundercats (Hooooooooo!!!) and I think E is eying GI Joe as his next endeavor.
